We also took the opportunity to strap timing gear to the ’Vette, but were unable to match its ambitious sub-3.0 second claimed acceleration time  . Our best effort was a 3.63sec 0-100km/h sprint, with a quarter mile slip of 11.68sec and 194.5km/h trap speed. The Corvette’s natural performance rivals are the likes of the Jaguar F-Type, which will set you back $166,048 for a supercharged-V8 R-Dynamic P450. Or the Porsche 911, of which a base Carrera demands $241,200 from prospective owners. That’s some lofty competition, and the C8 Corvette squares up with plenty of punch. CorvetteBlogger.com covers all generations of the Chevrolet Corvette including C8 news, spy photos, Corvette videos, auctions, prices, and Corvette Racing.
The base model of the Stingray comes with unequal length double wishbone suspension at the front and rear axles made from forged aluminum. The car can be equipped with a front-axle lifting height adjustable suspension system that can add 2 in of ground clearance at speeds under 25 mph (40 km/h). And while there might be some legitimate gripes about the strange climate control array or lack of manual transmission, Chevrolet C8 Corvette those gripes largely fall flat after you drive the car. It’s brilliant in just about every way imaginable, and Chevy finally gives you a respectable interior to complete the package. Our only wish is for a supercar-like engine to fit this car’s supercar-like character. The Chevy small block does the job with brutal effectiveness, but it’s the upcoming Z06 that may fully capture both our minds and souls.

Despite the poor sales of the Corvette at the time, the V8 was an overwhelmingly popular option — maybe six cars were produced with the inline-six. Once you're ready to narrow down your search results, go ahead and filter by price, mileage, transmission, trim, days on lot, drivetrain, color, engine, options, and deal ratings. And if you only want to see cars with a single owner, recent price drops, photos, or available financing, our filters can help with that too. The Corvette Stingray is the base trim level for the coupé and convertible models. Sadly, the effects of the events that happened during the past three years have taken their toll on the car industry.
Wide open, it sounds like a Ferrari 458 Italia that hit puberty. An engineer told us that during testing at the Nürburgring, the Z06's wail could be heard all the way around its lap. Around here, we sit through a lot of presentations about automotive trends. Charts and speeches detail the long-term march to electrification and how the move toward small-displacement, turbocharged engines is bridging the gap until we get there. They had to make their way around the problem by diverting the torsional energy into the central tunnel structure. The steering doesn’t communicate the handling limits either, neither changing in effort as the front tires fall into understeer nor, more disappointingly, coming alive if the rear end does starts to rotate.

The wheels have diameters of 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear, and are available with standard alloy or optional carbon fiber rims. The tires have dimensions of 275/30ZR20 at the front and 345/25ZR21 at the rear, and the Z07 Performance Package comes standard with Michelin Cup 2 R ZP performance tires. Chevrolet claims that the optional carbon fiber wheels, supplied by Australian manufacturer Carbon Revolution, shave off 41 lb of unsprung weight. Even with the switch to a mid-engine layout for the C8, Chevy tried its best to make the Corvette a practical sports car. We luggage-tested it twice with different sets of luggage to see how successful Chevy was, and both times we came away pleasantly surprised.
For the 2022 model year, Chevrolet offered a C8.R inspired IMSA GTLM Special Edition package for the production Corvette Stingray. The LT2 saw fuel management system upgrades for the 2022 model year which featured a new fuel pump and injectors. A new IMSA GTLM Championship Edition package, limited to 1000 units, was introduced for 2022.
So I immediately found myself scrolling through to Track just to get the more desired aural feedback at moderate revs. Even then, it’s only really satisfying once you’re on the attack or roaring up a steep hill and the tacho is hovering around 5000rpm or more. Looking at the rear window that doubles as part of the engine-lid cover, you’d wonder how anyone would have any rear vision at all. There’s just enough though, and partnered with the wing mirrors and various cameras I really didn’t give it another thought. Then you work out how to pull the toggle to engage Drive, followed by the rotary drive-mode dial which I’ve left in the least aggressive Touring setting as we kick things  off. That was my most immediate thought as I saw it in the metal for the first time.

The upcoming Chevy Corvette Z06 will be the first of several upcoming ultra-high-performance variants of the C8 Corvette. We expect it to go on sale in early 2021 as a 2022 model, starting at about $85,000. It's a return to the stripped-down-for-action, high-revving, track-worthy Vette embodied by the 505-hp 7.0-liter V-8-powered C6 Z06 of 2006 through 2013.
Everything wraps around the driver, including the infotainment screen and cascade of buttons mounted on the prominent partition. Add in their relatively high position and the vibrant all-digital instrument panel, and everything is easy to see and reach; at least for the driver. Being the passenger can feel like you're in a sidecar as you can barely see the controls let alone reach them. That goes for the otherwise user-friendly, feature-packed infotainment system. There’s a standard glass viewing panel over the engine on the coupe so you can see it in all its glory. It’s especially tasty with the standard appearance package on the 3LT trim cars, which add carbon-fibre bits on top of the bracing on each side.

From there he interviewed with Autoweek at the 1989 Frankfurt motor show  and has been with us ever since. That rear wing alone looks like something Don Johnson would have confiscated from a Miami Vice bad guy. Magnetic Ride Control is now available as an option separate from the Z51 performance package.
As a result, the two Corvette wheelmen wound up tied for sixth in the final points table. In 2022, the GTLM class in the IMSA SportsCar Championship was replaced by the GT Daytona Pro class using GT3 machinery. As Corvette did not have any GT3 cars on the market (with the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R not debuting until 2024), the C8.R was allowed to run in the GTD Pro class using a GTD kit.

1998 – Driven by 1963 race winner Parnelli Jones after an injury prevented golfer Greg Norman from performing the duty; 1,158 replicas were produced. 1978 – Driven by 1960 race winner Jim Rathmann; Chevrolet produced 6,502 production replicas. Edmunds.com, in its "100 Best Cars Of All Time" list, ranked the 1963 Corvette Stingray as the 16th best car ever produced worldwide. The 1990 ZR1 took #50, the 1955 Corvette V8 took #72, and the 2009 ZR1 took #78 overall. Car and Driver readers selected the Corvette "Best all around car" nine out of eleven years in Car and Driver's Reader's Choice Polls including 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1975. In January 2020 the car became the most expensive charity vehicle that week at the Barrett-Jackson auction, selling for $3 million.
The C8, representing the eighth generation of the storied performance car, is still in production. Considering the C7’s seven-year tenure, the eighth-gen model has a few years ahead of it. The problem with mid-engined sportscars is the fact that they do not have ample space to allow the exhaust note to be fine-tuned to something that is characterful. The C8 Corvette faced similar challenges and it proved to be quite a hassle for the company's engineers. Rumors of breakage in the hatch glass covering the engine are being reported owing to the massive power output of the twin-turbo powerplant.
