Tamariki walk through our tatau (door) happy to be here, keen to explore, discover and learn. We are a happy bunch of educators who take pride in nurturing little ones to achieve their best. When I am not working at the centre, I enjoy reading, watching movies, cooking, and spending time with my son. I have been a Centre Director at Goodstart since 2013 and with other Goodstart centres in the area since 2011.
The government-funded kindergarten initiative in Victoria applies to each eligible child, so if you have more than one child attending kindergarten, you can claim the funding for both. At Bayswater Childcare and Kinder, families do not directly receive the funded kindergarten payments. Instead, as part of the initiative, the Victorian Government provides kindergarten funding directly to us. If your child attends family day care bayswater multiple kindergarten services, you must let each service know where you want to receive kindergarten funding. We will ask you to sign a letter confirming where you will access Free Kinder in Victoria.
We support each other and work together to create a centre where children, families and educators all feel like they belong. I build strong partnerships with our families through open, ongoing communication, including regular check-ins and daily conversations. It’s important to me that every family feels heard and supported throughout their time with us. I started my career as a floater and have grown through a range of roles including room leader, 2IC and now Centre Manager.
We extend our learning programs beyond the classroom with an exciting events calendar, offering a variety of excursions, incursions and cultural celebrations throughout the year. Alongside our purpose-built facilities, we provide fresh, nutritious meals every day, prepared by our talented on-site cook, who caters to all dietary requirements. Our Early Childcare Services are designed to celebrate every child’s individuality and meet the diverse needs of families. With a network of childcare centres and kindergartens, we offer enriching environments where children can thrive. Guided by passionate educators, our holistic approach ensures children build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills through play, imaginative learning, and social connection.
With Child Care Subsidy changes coming in 2026, now’s the perfect time to explore what makes our centres so special. The children enjoy storytime with a member from the Croydon Library. They read stories in a group setting and discuss the public library.
At the beginning of 2024, one of the goals I had written was that I wanted our daughter to be able to write her name by the end of the year. Not only could she do that, but she wrote in her teachers Christmas card herself. Jo (and her equally incredible support team of Monique, Donna and Clem) know every single child’s name AND their parents and often grandparents names. True attention to detail, and proof we are not just a number to them. Communication is frequent, I feel involved in her development and there is structure in place to ensure she thrives while at daycare.

Parents may request a place that uses only the funded entitlement, subject to limited availability and the nursery’s ability to offer these places if it is financially sustainable to do so. Funded hours are available between 8.45 am to 3.30 pm, depending on your child’s session (e.g. Caterpillar or Butterfly) offered across 33 weeks of the academic year. Teacher-led and at least half of the educators will be qualified early childhood education teachers. We know that ensuring your child eats all their vegetables at dinner time is not always easy after a busy day. That’s why our onsite cook prepares healthy, nutritious lunches and morning and afternoon teas.
We have an experienced food coordinator who prepares all meals in accordance with Australian dietary guidelines, using fresh ingredients delivered under our strict food safety program. Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We can also refer to mental health support programs for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.
