Performance Car Exhausts Systems

Everything described is done without increasing weight or hindering the car’s performance in any way. With either a less restrictive sports-cat or a straight through de-cat section, and bigger bore pipework flow-rate will go up and back-pressure will go down. Replacing the whole system ensures that power gains from one section are not stifled by another. As the exhaust system has been designed from front to back to work together the gains are always greatest when you fit the whole thing. At Profusion Customs, we are committed to providing our customers with the best possible professional service and the finest craftsmanship.
For these standards to be achieved with high flow converters (only for cars up to March 1st 2001 – after this an EU approved catalyst must be fitted), a 200 cell is a minimum requirement. Today this exhaust is still the most performance exhausts popular aftermarket Jaguar XKR exhaust system there has ever been. The quality of this exhaust system needs to be seen and heard to be appreciated. Smooth rolled mandrel bends allow for exhalent and improved gas flow.

But then again, if you’re the car dealer and the warranty is long gone, that’s not really your problem, is it? It’s all down to the materials used; most commonly stainless steel or, in some high-end systems, titanium. It’s all about freeing up the restriction caused by the standard exhaust to get those gasses out faster. And exhaust manufacturers will employ various tricks in terms of design and construction to ensure the best efficiency. Everything from smoothing out the bends as much as possible, to using less-restrictive silencers, resonators and backboxes. There’s no doubt that a performance cat-back or DPF-back is one of the all-time great basic bolt-ons.
The price for a Porsche 986 full sports exhaust system can be anywhere from £5000 to £15,000. The best practice to get the best optimization for performance is to re-map your car. This allows the ECU on the car to provide different flow rates and back pressures from the new exhaust.

The 986 Boxster assembled in Finland has the letter “U” as the 11th character of the VIN instead of the “S” for the German assembled cars. • Direct bolt-on application to replace the factory exhaust system. We pride ourselves on our 5 star customer review score and aim to maintain our high level of service. As all of our products are hand made to order, unfortunately we cannot accept returns, therefore we ask that you double check with us that you are ordering the correct product.
And it’s this almost ridiculous attention to the finer details that has seen them bag over 160 championships in all areas of motorsport. Yep, you just know you’re dealing with a monster when they put together their CAD designed in a ‘metallurgical laboratory’… er, whatever that is. They even have their own foundry where they produce the proprietary titanium for their top-end designs. Performance exhausts free up the restrictions you’ll find in your standard system helping to get waste gasses out more efficiently.
Using a steady, strong force pull it back and loop onto the link pipe. Repeat with the other spring and twist if necessary to line them up. In relation to modified exhausts it’s illegal to modify the system to make a vehicle noisier after it has been ‘type approved’ . It’s legal to fit aftermarket cans but only if they’ve been approved for use on UK roads.

Headers more usually refers to the exhaust manifolds on a normally aspirated car, whereas a downpipe often refers to a turbo car. However, stainless steel and titanium won’t rust and, assuming you opt for a reputable exhaust manufacturer, the high-quality tig welding in between won’t use mild steel, so that won’t rust, either. This means that any good performance exhaust should last the lifetime of your car at the very least. Just think about it, how many times have you seen a second-hand upgrade for sale online? The catalytic converter was one of the first control systems for petrol-powered vehicles.
Therefore we take pride in the quality and durability of our products. All exhausts are made to last, designed and manufactured with longevity in mind. They need to withstand all kinds of extreme conditions and extreme heat. Therefore they are thoroughly tested, before going into production.

Our performance exhaust range for the Toyota MR2 are manufactured with 2.25" stainless steel pipework and includes an aftermarket cat back twin exhaust system finished in either dual 3.5" or single 3" oval tailpipes. Our range of sports exhausts for the VW Golf R MK7 have been developed in 3 inch/76.2mm bore stainless steel pipework in order to gain the best results for both increases in power whilst creating an improved vibrant sound. Alongside the cat back exhaust systems we have a full range of complete Golf R MK7 turbo back exhaust systems with the same options for resonated/non resonated middle sections and de-cat/sports cat front pipes. Founded by the 1970s by Italian Championship racer Giorgio Gianelli, Arrow Special Parts was born in 1985. Originally manufacturing high-performance exhaust systems for off-road bikes, the company now produces exhaust systems for all types while staying road-legal.
But sometimes you need to tend to an exhaust because something’s broken – or more likely rusted through. Over the last couple of months I am very happy with the exhaust, it sounds lovely and it has increased the fuel economy even with the bike being restricted. It has also made the bike look so much nicer and cleaner now it doesn't have the stock one on there. In the UK and so we guess in Europe too, MANY tracks have increasingly strict noise limits and competition systems will often make sure you will be black flagged (i.e thrown off the track) or prevented from even starting.
The new ‘map’ for the ECU can then be optimised to adjust the fuel/air mix and other important parameters to get better power and torque through the rev range. Porsche has designed fantastic sounding engines from the 1950s through to the current day. The “Porsche sound” is deep, full, strong, and sporty – a genuine sound of a sports car.

The important thing to keep in mind is that Catalytic converters are required for MOT on Porsches from 1992 onwards, so ‘de-catting’ a Porsche will create some issues during MOT. Another important part is the lambda sensor, which is a small regulating probe located on the car exhaust, between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter. The lambda probe will regulate the fuel amount by optimizing the air and fuel mix, which will also impact the harmful gas emissions rate which is also checked at the MOT. Regulating probe cable length will probably need to be adjusted after the upgrade. Love it and again after a Diablo on the SV650 previously, wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend!
You may need to relocate components such as oxygen sensors, and possibly remove componentry like high-mount centerstands. Sometimes, directions can be less than explanatory, and light fabrication work can be required. If any of these seem like obstacles, don’t be afraid to go to the mechanic and have a professional job done. Sometimes, an install from a competent shop for a fair price can give you peace of mind, while relieving you of any possible problems from an exhaust job that was tougher to tackle than originally estimated. For both the long as the short version we offer 4,0” end caps in different variations.
