Great shots of the crowded market and the one of the child on the ride is really something. While queuing, we were given the menu and we ordered a soup and dried version of Mi Tai Mu, a plate of braised pork’s intestine (my favourite!) and the popular meatballs. My omnivore tasting buds quickly caught the “missing” ingredients from their dishes, but I have to tell you that they tasted quite good. And the chef has made an effort to “trick” you by creatively composing vegetarian ingredients to look like animal parts. For example, a teriyaki eel is made out of tofu and seaweed .

Green teas tend to be sharp and possess citrus or vegetal undertones. It is believed that by roasting or pan-firing the leaves immediately after harvesting, they retain much of their natural flavor. What’s more, demand for Taiwanese teas far exceeds production, which has even led to the phenomenon of “counterfeit” Taiwanese teas, which are typically grown in Southeast Asia. Camellia sinensis was first brought over to Taiwan in the 19th century from Fujian province in China, where the famous Wuyi tea region is located. Many of Wuyi’s teas are known as yancha (rock tea or 岩茶) after the distinctive rocky terroir they are grown in). Oolong tea was found to grow particularly well in Taiwan after it was planted in the Lugu area of Nantou and in northern Taiwan.

Feng Chia Night Market (逢甲夜市, also spelled Fengchia, Fengjia or Feng Jia Night Market) is by far the most famous night market in Taichung. Within this, the dish that trumps all other in terms of fame is “turkey on rice” 火雞肉飯, which is exactly what it sounds like. While the northern versions might use chicken or low-grade meat, the original is the best and it is found in Chiayi. Seafood also features in the local cuisine, particularly the oysters that also to a degree help fuel the economy by providing jobs. However, there were merely a few restaurants still open during that time.

The center of Karlovo is the площад 20 Юли , about 100 m from ulitsa Gen. Karzov, which forms part of the Sofia-Kazanlyk-Sliven highway. Here you can see some of the pretty houses from the early 20th century, and there are much more of them along ulitsa Vasil Levski leading south to the railway station. The main attraction though is the площад Васил Левски with a statue of the guy himself and the main cluster of old houses.
Also it was also full of ice meaning it was gone in a few sips. But due to some seriously bad weather, Sun Moon Lake was off the cards.
